Star Wars Outlaws Is Getting Nerfed As Devs Reveal Early-Game Difficulty Is "A Mistake"

may have surprised some players upon its launch when the open-world scoundrel fantasy turned out to be a lot more stealth-focused than they may have expected. Considering Kay Vess' past as a thief and the fact that the whole game seems to be building up to a major heist, the idea that she might have to spend a fair amount of time sneaking around places isn't exactly out of place, but some compulsory stealth sections have been the source of some controversy from some players.

The game's creative director, Julian Gerighty, recently spoke with about this, noting that these instant-fail stealth sections can be "" citing one on Mirogana in the earlier section of the game, in particular. After looking at some of the recent player data, Gerighty noted that the difficulty may have been "" and stated that Massive Entertainment is looking to improve this.

He went on to give an idea of how this could be done, saying, "" He noted that currently, the stealth sections feel "" which was never the team's intention. There's a patch planned within the coming week that will correct this to some degree.

While does incorporate several elements that depart from the traditional Ubisoft formula — gone are the traditional skill trees in favor of the "" mechanic that encourages players to explore the open world more fully — there is still a lot of familiarity for those who have played Ubisoft's back catalog of titles. For example, Kay's "" ability resembles and 's "" feature, and she can use Electrobinoculars to plan ahead before infiltrating a faction's base, which works similarly to the series' binoculars by marking and tracking enemies and points of interest.

Getting into the Pyke Stronghold and infiltrating Gorak's base is a tough early mission that Kay will have few abilities for in Star Wars Outlaws.
