Star Wars Outlaws is getting a patch to make its instant-fail stealth missions less frustrating

Star Wars Outlaws will soon be receiving a patch that makes its early instant fail stealth missions less frustating for players.

In an interview with GamesRadar, creative director Julian Gerighty was asked about the game’s early difficulty spike, due to numerous stealth missions that end in failure if the player is spotted.

Gerighty acknowledged that player data received by the development team suggested these sections weren’t going down well, and said a fix is on the way.

“So especially, you’re probably thinking of one of the early missions in Mirogana, which is incredibly punishing,” Gerighty said. “And for me, that is a mistake, and this is something that we’re going to work on improving.

“I don’t think it means removing the fail state completely, but I do think there are millions of low hanging fruits where we can make it so much more enjoyable and understandable.”

Gerighty added that while the aim was to create tension during those moments, it seems that came at the expense of player enjoyment.

“We just don’t want it to feel unfair,” he explained, “and today, I think it feels unfair. And believe it or not, this wasn’t our intention. This is more of something that crept in in the last week or so, and that we’re correcting already for a patch that’s coming out maybe in 10 days.”

VGC’sStar Wars Outlaws review called the game “a pulpy, Uncharted-style adventure that doesn’t quite fulfil its potential”.

Gerighty recently said he was disappointed with the game’s Metacritic score, which ranges from 75-77 depending on the platform, but claimed that “players are really connecting” with it.
