One of my favorite games from this year's summer showcases, a peaceful adventure where you explore a desert planet in a beat up van, has a demo available right now

The more I saw of Caravan SandWitch's trailer in today's Wholesome Direct showcase, the more I dug it. The «narrative-driven exploration adventure» has this uniquely desolate sci-fi look that reminds me of some of my recent favorites, while it also has a demo available to try right now on Steam.

The official Starship Troopers co-op shooter has a full release date, Casper Van Dien, and a miraculous-sounding corpse pile-up system: 'No other game has been able to achieve persistent death at the scale we're doing'

In a flurry punch of announcements, rather good co-op bug-blaster Starship Troopers: Extermination has revealed that it's leaving behind early access and hitting its full 1.0 release on October 11, gaining a new singleplayer campaign mode in the transition, and that it's recruited Casper Van Dien—Mr «I'm from Buenos Aires and I say kill 'em all» from the original movie—to feature in it. Oh, and that you'll soon be able to kill enough bugs to literally change the terrain of the game's maps.

Finally, a cozy life sim where not everyone in town is thrilled about you turning a cute little shop into a massive megastore

Something you see a lot in cozy games is a scenario where you move to a small island or a rustic neighborhood, then use your farm or shop to revitalize it, bringing new life to a sweet but neglected little town. Those vibes are definitely present in supermarket management sim Discounty… at least at first.

Take a mystery lover's holiday by solving crime on the Italian Riviera in On Your Tail

I'm used to mystery games where the mystery is the main thing. In Strange Horticulture you may be running a shop while trying to figure out what's going on in Undermere, but you don't have to balance the books between trying to figure out how a druid got poisoned. You're not going to suddenly get a game over because a national chain of weird plant shops opened up a franchise across the road from yours.

Destiny's decade-long saga is over after world's first raid team takes 19 hours to down the final boss, unlocking a wild 12-person climax for everyone to play

I'm so tired. Partly because I stayed up until 4 AM watching teams trying and failing to win the Salvation's Edge raid race. But also because, I woke up this morning to find that after a staggering 19 hours the final boss had been defeated, meaning that the curtain has been brought down on a story I've been playing for a decade.

'Did I make too big of a game?' Lead designer of sky-high city builder Airborne Empire on wanting to build a 'Skyrim or a Breath of the Wild'-sized world

Building a city in the sky in 2020's Airborne Kingdom was a mostly chill experience—while you were in a constant war with gravity as you attempted to expand your city while keeping it aloft and balanced, there were no traditional enemies to fight. It was also a relatively short game that could be fully completed in about 10 hours.
