Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance PC System Requirements Are Among the Lowest We Have Seen in a While

The Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance PC requirements were revealed today, and they are among the lowest we have seen in a very long time.

As revealed on the game's Steam store page, the latest entry in the series by ATLUS will not require a powerful system to run at 720p low and 1080p high, as both the minimum and recommended requirements list components that are outdated, such as the Intel i5-2300 and i5-4750 CPUs and the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 and GTX 960 GPUs. Though welcome, these low requirements are not surprising, considering the original version of the game was developed for Nintendo Switch.

While the game is also coming out on consoles, the announcement of a PC version of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance was particularly welcome, considering how the original Switch release was held back by the system quite a bit, as I highlighted in my review.

While on the field, Shin Megami Tensei V runs at an uncapped framerate, and the performance varies wildly, ranging from very short moments where the game runs at 60 FPS to moments when it visibly drops below 30 FPS. Generally, having a few character models on screen is more than enough for performance to tank, and given how many demons roam the field, the game never runs smoothly outside of combat, which definitely feels better thanks to the 30 FPS cap.
