Sea of Thieves PS5 Version “Key Test” For Other Xbox Exclusives Coming to Rival Platforms, The Verge Says

The Sea of Thieves PS5 version will be a crucial test for other former Xbox exclusives coming to rival platforms, according to outlet The Verge.

Some days ago, it was reported that Microsoft's executive in charge of new AI initiatives, backward compatibility, and cloud gaming, Kareem Choudhry, would be leaving the company. Choudhry's departure comes among other big strategy changes at Microsoft, including a change that involves some older Xbox console exclusives coming to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. "I don't think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform. We're focused on these four games and learning from the experience", Spencer said.

"Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans tell me that the company continues to evaluate other Xbox-exclusive games coming to PS5", the article from The Verge reads. "I understand Sea of Thieves will be a key test for whether other games might make their way to PS5 or Nintendo Switch."

To date, we know of four former Xbox console exclusives coming or already been released on either PlayStation or Switch - Pentiment, HiFi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Over the past few months, there have been numerous rumors about other major Xbox exclusives eventually hitting rival platforms as well, including Starfield, the upcoming Indiana Jones from Bethesda, but also
