Pokemon GO Players Aren't Happy About the 'Rediscover Kanto' Event
Pokemon GO players aren't happy with the reveal of the «Rediscover Kanto» event, as the community feels fatigued with Generation 1. Initially, the event was teased alongside multiple updates and a new way for Pokemon GO players to «rediscover» the popular mobile game.
On April 11, Niantic's official Twitter account for Pokemon GO teased new updates with the "#RediscoverGO" hashtag. A teaser trailer was released as well, teasing various Generation 1 Pokemon emerging from a gateway into the real world. Speculation surrounding the event continued into April 15, with Niantic revealing the «Rediscover Pokemon GO» series of events. Starting April 17, these events will feature updates to Pokemon GO's in-game features, including GO Snapshot, the Style Shop, and battle screens. However, fans are unhappy with the Rediscover Kanto event that will begin on April 22.
The Pokemon GO community on Reddit is very unhappy with the new Rediscover Kanto event since many players are tired of seeing Generation 1 Pokemon being promoted by Niantic and The Pokemon Company again. In Frogarazzi's Reddit post, several users are upset that Pokemon from the Galar and Sinnoh regions are seemingly neglected, while others believe that Niantic is running out of ideas for events. Some players, including user RealBug56, are also considering a break from Pokemon GO when the event arrives. Although a portion of the Pokemon GO community appears to be optimistic about the new event, the overall reaction to the Rediscover Kanto announcement appears to be mostly negative online.
