Pokemon Fan Points Out All the Gen 1 Creatures That Have Yet to Get New Forms

A Pokemon fan recently created a chart with all 40 creatures from the franchise’s first generation that did not get any new forms over time. Newer Pokemon games often add variants to previously known creatures, but these classic Pokemon seem to have been snubbed for the last 28 years.

The first generation of Pokemon games started with Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue back in 1996, and is perhaps one of the most well-known iterations of the franchise. However, while some creatures such as Pikachu, Eevee, and Charizard are all-time favorites that received new versions over time, many Gen 1 Pokemon remain forgotten.

Now, a Pokemon fan called pepe_grillo created an interesting chart that showcases all the creatures that have not gained new designs such as regional variants in later Pokemon games. In total, 40 of the 151 Pokemon from Gen 1 have not gained any forms yet. The list includes some popular monsters like Psyduck, Ditto, Starmie, Dragonite, and the whole Nido family, and also some less noteworthy ones like Dewgong, Paras, and Goldeen.

In the comments of pepe_grillo’s post, several fans lamented the lack of new official designs for these creatures. Among the most popular picks were the Nido Pokemon, which include the male and female Nidoran, Nidorino, Nidoking, Nidorina, and Nidoqueen. For instance, a Pokemon fan created regional forms for Psyduck last year, designing a Water/Psychic-type version of the creature. In this new evolutionary line, both Psyduck and Golduck gained new designs greatly inspired by concepts such as meditation, and also a new evolution called Ascenduck.

Another example from last year includes a fan who devised past and future Paradox forms for Ditto. The
