Pokemon Fan Creates Monster-Hunter Style Design for Reshiram

A skilled Pokemon fan recently designed a new form for Reshiram using the Monster Hunter series art style. By mixing two popular franchises such as Pokemon and Monster Hunter, this fan artist achieved a pretty interesting result that showcases how good-looking the fan art made by the community can be.

Reshiram is a legendary Dragon/Fire-type Pokemon that was originally introduced in the 5th generation of Pokemon games. The mythic beast was the official game mascot of Pokemon Black, appearing in the game’s cover art. Together with Kyurem and Zekrom, Reshiram is part of the Tao Trio, a group of Dragon-type creatures that is intimately linked with the history of Unova, the region where Pokemon Black and White were set.

Now, a Pokemon fan called shunixe decided to reimagine Reshiram, taking its most essential details and drawing the creature using the Monster Hunter art style instead. This new take on the mythic dragon is fairly distinct from the original. Reshiram is not a biped anymore, and the feathers around its body no longer look white, but silver with some dark parts. The creature keeps its iconic blue eyes, though, and gains a kind of metallic skin. Overall, this design ends up resembling much more a huge Monster Hunter monster than an actual Pokemon.

This is not the first time that shunixe has remade a popular Pokemon using Monster Hunter’s art style. Last year, Vaporeon received the Monster Hunter treatment, ditching its cute pet-like form for a monstrous long shape that greatly resembles a mixture between a Gyarados and a mermaid with strong metallic scales and a tail made out of water.

Sometimes, Pokemon fans also get their inspiration from other series when creating new forms for classic creatures. For instance, another fan recently remade the Gastly evolutions as 1930s cartoons, in an art style that greatly resembles Cuphead. In this beautiful piece of fan art, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are represented as monochrome wacky cartoons that actually look pretty
