In early June, Sony offered some “bonus” titles for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, but we’re also getting a regular mid-month update as well. Extra subscribers can look forward to Monster Hunter Rise, Crusader Kings III, Football Manager 2024, Far Cry 4, and more. Meanwhile, Premium subscribers can jump into Daxter, Lego Star Wars II, and more.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next big RPG in the series from the team at Ubisoft Quebec, and the rule for recent RPG-style entries in the series has been “bigger is better.” Assassin’s Creed Origins was big, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was bigger, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was perhaps even a bit larger. So, does Ubisoft plan to push the scope even further for AC Shadows? Thankfully for those who found some recent AC games a bit overwhelming, the answer is no.
The Call of Duty franchise has become rather notorious in recent years for gobbling up unreasonable amounts of storage, which is particularly frustrating on current-gen consoles with limited SSD space. So yeah, most people were expecting Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to be a big game, and yet, many were still shocked when the game’s pre-order pages indicated the game will require a 310 GB install.
For years the Luigi’s Mansion series remained firmly in the shadow of big brother Mario’s many adventures, but 2019’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 proved to be a bit of a breakout hit, garnering enthusiastic reviews and eventually selling nearly 15 million copies. In the wake of that success, Nintendo is doubling back and reviving the somewhat-overlooked previously-3DS-exclusive Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for Switch under the title Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (the game has always been known as Luigi’s Mansion 2 in Europe for those confused).
The latest Ubisoft Forward showcase just wrapped up, and while it was light on new game announcements, we did get a reveal of a new entry in the Anno series. While most entries in the Anno series have taken place in or around the European Age of Discovery, and there was even a couple set int the sci-fi future, the latest game in the series is going back much earlier in history. Anno 117: Pax Romana will put players in the sandals of an Ancient Roman governor, overseeing either a province in what’s now Italy or amongst the Celts in what’s now the United Kingdom. No gameplay of Anno 117 has been revealed, but Ubisoft did provide the following liver action teaser trailer.
Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming open-world action-adventure from Massive Entertainment set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, is slated to be the biggest game of the summer, and today during the Ubisoft Forward showcase, we got a fresh look at the game in action. The new gameplay footage mostly focuses on the game’s expansive world and the activities you’ll encounter there, including a visit to Tatooine and Mos Eisley, including the infamous cantina.
Following today’s big Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and Activision fully pulled the wraps back on what’s sure to be the biggest game of the year with the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct. After a couple shaky years for the CoD franchise, this looks like the game fans have been waiting for, with an ambitious campaign, major updates to core gameplay, the return of round-based Zombies, and more. Earlier this year, Xbox finally gave us a first peek at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the new first-person action-adventure under development at Wolfenstein developer under the watchful eye of producer Todd Howard. That first trailer certainly got tongues wagging, and delivered plenty of the puzzle solving and derring-do the series is known for, but, of course, fans wanted more.
