Josh Sawyer in gaming news

Despite all the difficulty grousing, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has sold 5 million copies in less than a week

I don't want to sound hasty, but I'm starting to suspect that people are pretty into this Shadow of the Erdtree business. It's just a hunch I have, based largely on a tweet from the official Elden Ring Twitter account thanking Tarnished around the globe, who in less than a week since the DLC's release have purchased more than 5 million copies. I'm sure Miquella's flattered by all the attention.

RPG veteran Josh Sawyer "threw everything I knew" at Icewind Dale, which is partly why the D&D CRPG has "a reputation for being pretty hard"

RPG veteran Josh Sawyer has left his mark on loads of fan-favorite games, from Fallout: New Vegas, to Pillars of Eternity and its sequel. However, he's recently spoken about one of the first games he worked on, Icewind Dale, and how it ended up being considered so difficult – partly because he "threw everything I knew at it."

Fallout: New Vegas director reveals that game balance is 'mostly vibes based', says he only used a weapons spreadsheet 'for maybe a couple of months'

It would be nice to live in a world that makes sense, wouldn't it? One where you could easily reduce the issue of weapons balance to points on a spreadsheet, defeating the issue of game design with the raw power of maths. Unfortunately we don't live in that world, as backed up by Fallout: New Vegas' director Josh Sawyer—who recently dispensed a grain of wisdom: Balancing is «mostly vibes based».

Josh Sawyer understands why some fans are annoyed by the treatment of New Vegas in Amazon's Fallout series, but he's not one of them: 'Whatever happens with it, I don’t care'

Quite a few committed Fallout fans weren't happy with the way the Amazon television series appeared to negate—or at least mess with—the presence of Fallout: New Vegas in the canon. But Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer isn't one of them. In an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Sawyer said he understands why there was some confusion and «could see why some people might be aggravated or annoyed,» but he doesn't share that feeling because it's not his thing anymore.

Fallout TV show sneaks in New Vegas lead designer's map of the setting

It feels like we're going to be mining the Fallout TV show for new nuggets of information for years, kind of like the way people in the show's settlement of Filly survive by mining the sinking trash of their home. Here's an example: I only just realized it's called Filly because it's a landfill, not because it's Philadelphia. Forgive me, I'm Australian. This is why I need a map of Fallout's United States, which is conveniently the latest thing to be uncovered, hidden in plain sight on Fallout's TV incarnation.

Fallout New Vegas director Josh Sawyer says its gruelling card game is actually 'not that hard' and you cowards need to 'try again'

I'll front with you real quick, I've never played a game of Caravan. Apparently, neither have half the PC Gamer team, even the ones who sank hundreds of hours into Fallout New Vegas. It seems like there's a surprising lack of interest in the card game, or, according to a good chunk of the community, it is too stupidly difficult for its own good.
