And, honestly, I don't think it's worth spending the extra as the contrast, colour, and vibrancy of this bright IPS panel is already a big step up over a standard matte coating. The Spectrum One still impresses me every time I boot up my machine, and its peak 750 nit luminance actually makes it a good HDR screen with the extra contrast of the glossy panel. Just don't forget to add a stand if you don't have a spare monitor arm.

I'm seriously impressed with the new HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming. I love a good 14-inch gaming laptop at the best of times, but there's usually a pretty prohibitive price tag attached. Not so with this wee beauty. I mean, it's still more expensive than most RTX 4060 gaming laptops, but you won't find one at this scale, nor with such a lovely design and gorgeous, high-res OLED screen attached.

That Intel CPU has 14 cores, 20 threads, and the GPU is a 140W RTX 4070. Backing them up are 16GB of DDR5 RAM and, unusually for this price, a full 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. Even the 2560 x 1600 screen is good, with a 250Hz refresh rate and mini-LED backlighting. There's very little to dislike here and it'll be down to whether the lightweight nature or 14-inch panel just aren't right for you.
