Path of Exile 2 Beta Delayed

Developer Grinding Gear Games has announced that the Path of Exile 2 beta has been delayed to sometime later in 2024. According to the announcement, the developer team encountered unforeseen challenges in polishing Path of Exile 2's gameplay to meet its standards.

Path of Exile 2 was unveiled at ExileCon 2019, positioned as a sequel to its predecessor, with promises of delivering an entirely fresh gaming experience. Set to feature six acts and significant changes to core systems such as the skill gem system and combat mechanics, the game has garnered anticipation from fans of the franchise. Path of Exile 2 closed beta was originally scheduled to commence on June 7, 2024. However, a recent statement from Grinding Gear Games reveals a change of plans, and players will need to exercise patience.

In the statement, Grinding Gear Games acknowledged the challenges they encountered in meeting their initial target date for the beta release. The developer explained that although it anticipated having the game's content prepared by June 7th, it underestimated the time required to polish the gameplay to its satisfaction. Despite risking missing another favorable release window for the Path of Exile 2 beta, the developer prioritized refining gameplay over strictly adhering to deadlines, aiming to provide players with a thoroughly polished experience upon release.

Despite the delay in the beta release, the developer assured players that alpha testing will proceed as planned in June. However, they indicated that the beta will now be pushed back to a later timeframe, likely towards the end of the year. While an exact date for the beta launch has not been provided, the team aims to ensure that the additional time will be utilized to refine and enhance the gameplay experience for players.Path of Exile 2's closed beta will feature the full game and will be open for the entire duration of a standard challenge league.
