The much-anticipated remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is here, and much like the Gamecube original, the game is bursting with puzzles, secrets, and some quirky mechanics that new players may find slightly perplexing. Don’t worry though, we’re here to cut The Thousand-Year Door’s more confusing aspects down to size.

The Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door doesn’t off up a ton of all-new content, but it does add a pair of tough post-game bosses for you to challenge yourself against. So, here’s how to face off against these bosses and a few tips on how to beat them.

Prince Mush

That’s right, the original champion of the Glitz Pit before being replaced by Rawk Hawk can now be taken on for the ultimate title of champion.

How to Fight Prince Mush

While Prince Mush may send you a message challenging you earlier in the game, you have to finish up the main story and roll credits in order to fight him. He’ll be hanging out in the hallway near the save block and locker rooms in the Glitz Pit. Talk to him and accept his challenge. Then go to one of the GBA-shaped terminals to fight him as an exhibition match.

Strategy Tips

Despite his unintimidating appearance, Prince Mush is definitely a tough customer, rocking 96 HP, 6 Attack, and 6 Defense. The Prince has a couple stances -- one where he’s kind of hopping up and down, and one where’s shimmying back and forth – you can only damage when he’s doing the former, as he’ll always dodge when he’s in the latter stance. So, when he’s moving back and forth, use your time to heal and use attack-boosting items like Power Lift or the Charge ability. If you pull off a successful Superguard, he will be essentially stunned for a turn, giving you more opportunity to attack.
