New Xbox Game is Now Currently One of the Console's Best-Sellers

Rounds, a roguelite shooter, has cracked Xbox's Top Paid Games list after releasing for the platform on February 21. Rounds' Xbox version costs $8.49, but users can currently download a free trial of the unique shooter.

Roguelite games make up a popular subgenre of the roguelike category, which differ from the genre's original idea by allowing certain items to carry over between runs or incorporating a shorter format. The roguelite subgenre features a variety of strong co-op games, and while Rounds won't join this list due to it being a PvP game rather than a co-op one, many users report that it's a great game for friends to enjoy together.

Rounds is a 1v1 rougelite shooter that can be played locally or online. Two users are pitted against each other in various 2D platformer stages, where the loser of each round is given a new upgrade. As a match progresses and more rounds pass, the fights get more hectic and unique as both users unlock powerful upgrades that can be combined to create new scenarios. Developer Landfall explains that Rounds features more than 70 different arenas and over 65 powerups, which can be combined to create over 11.2 million different powerup combinations. Both users take on the form of a blob-shaped humanoid as they jump, block, and shoot their way around the arena.

Rounds' review score on Xbox currently sits at four stars and its Steam score, where it was released back in 2021, sits at an Overwhelmingly Positive rating of 95% percent from more than 21,000 reviews. Users who enjoy similar games, like the best FPS roguelikes, might find a new favorite game in Rounds. It features twitchy, skill-based gameplay with a decently high skill ceiling, especially when considering its many powerups that can be utilized in different ways. Rounds just received a significant new update on February 21 that added achievements, crossplay between PC and Xbox, and more.

Xbox fans who enjoy the overarching roguelike genre have a great lineup of games to choose from
