New Sonic-Style Platformer Hits Kickstarter Funding Goal

Rollin' Rascal, a Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros. inspired indie platforming game, has managed to hit its funding stretch goal on Kickstarter for a Nintendo Switch version. Rollin' Rascal originally launched its Kickstarter campaign at the beginning of February, complete with a demo level on Steam. It allowed fans to try out its Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired high-speed gameplay, taking after other 3D Sonic adventures like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations, with elements of 3D Super Mario Bros. games included as well.

Many players who tried the demo were very impressed, praising Rollin' Rascal for the sense of speed and momentum-based challenges that was present in the gameplay of 3D Sonic the Hedgehog titles. It featured familiar moves like Sonic's homing dash, spin attack, and double jump, but with a unique twist. It's likely no surprise that Rollin' Rascal had hit its minimum funding goal of $50K 12 hours after it launched. Curiomatic recently announced that Rollin' Rascal's campaign has reached one of its biggest stretch goals too.

On the Rollin' Rascal Kickstarter campaign page, the developers were excited to announce that the campaign has surpassed $100K. With this milestone reached, Rollin' Rascal will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. All digital backers who pledge to the campaign will be able to redeem their code on either Steam or the Nintendo eShop. Reaching $100K was also stretch goal that gave Rascal more outfits than just the the shorts and sneakers he wore in the reveal trailer. These new threads include sleepwear, racing gear, and even a dinosaur onesie.
