MultiVersus Launches Age of Smith Rift with New Cinematic, Unlocks Agent Smith for Some in Rift Event

MultiVersus expands its PvE offerings today with the arrival of the Age of Smith Rift and, for those who do enough Rift tiers, The Matrix’ Agent Smith unlocks for free.

When Agent Smith was formally announced with a new gameplay trailer last week, the MultiVersus team announced several new Rifts. With the mid-season patch, the Megalodog PvE Rift opened, with Age of Smith and Triple Threat set for later in the season. Well, along with those patch details, those who notch enough Rift tiers in the “Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free!” event can start playing with him today. He will be available to purchase for everyone on July 23rd.

In order to mark the arrival of the brand new Rift, and of course, the signature new fighter that inspired it, there’s a new cinematic featuring Agent Smith, Stripe, and Bugs Bunny. We get a taste of the conflict to come in the new challenge, but not the gameplay content, so you can feel free to watch the new video and go into the Rift fresh if you want. Let’s just say that Bugs Bunny has something to say about all that “inevitable” talk going around now that the Agent is here.

Today, the team held its first-ever live stream to highlight the new additions. There is no VOD just yet, but there should be lots more info available once that is up.

The team at Player First Games and WB announced Rifts back in May, ahad of the game’s launch. Rifts are a PvE mode that feature changing themes and content to play through, as a version of seasonal content that also accompanies new roster releases too. Even though this is a PVE mode, this is still a live service title, so expect mini-games and other challenges to play through 

MultiVersus continue to roll out new features, as well as bring back some improved versions of features from open beta.
