Minecraft Player Builds Incredible Greek City

A Minecraft player has created an incredible city inspired by historical Greek locations using the many materials available in the game. Since the game was released, Minecraft fans have shared their unique locations, but this may be among the most memorable.

Minecraft was released many years ago, but it continues to be updated to this day. As Mojang expands on the foundations of the game, new resources are added and expand upon the available building blocks. Using the materials, players have built impressive things like a Separatist Starship from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings' Rivendell, and a recreation of the solar system. Redstone further enables players to create automated farms, mini-games, and fast transportation. One gamer has used the available resources to replicate an impressive ancient Greek city.

Reddit user ThaMango recently shared an aerial screenshot of their Minecraft Greek city. Unlike modern Greek cities, this one is notably based on ancient Greek locations which is emphasized by the red roofs. Like the island of Greece, this location is also surrounded by ships that are likely leaving or returning to the port. The island is cluttered with hundreds of smaller buildings, and the city includes key locations like the Colosseum, an amphitheater, multiple docks, a temple, and a massive statue dedicated to one of the Greek Gods. Half of the island features a fortified wall, with large braziers on one side and small towers on the other.

The bright colors of this Greek city make it resemble an Age of Mythology location. Beyond this creation, Minecraft also features a Greek texture pack which includes similar locations, massive statues, Mount Olympus, and character skins. According to ThaMango, this Greek city was built without the texture pack, and they used Creative mode and tools like WorldEdit instead.
