Installing the aptly titled «Thane Lives» mod tweaks several major events in, preventing Thane from dying during Cerberus' coup on The Citadel and instead having him return to The Normandy where Commander Shepard can continue chatting with him. To further sell the experience, he'll also comment on any completed missions and other crew members will even acknowledge his presence.

Despite Thane surviving Kai Leng's assault and seemingly holding off Kepral's Syndrome, the mod is more for aesthetics than mechanics. He can't be recruited into Shepard's active party and instead spends all his time on the Normandy where he assists in leading the Drell fleet against the Reapers, functioning like a War Asset rather than a companion. Perhaps the best part is that the «Thane Lives» mod will see the assassin included in the DLC pack as he even shows up at the celebratory party Shepard and their crew throw upon finally pushing back their enemy.
