Windows 11's Latest Update Is A Bust, iGPU Driver Breaking-Bug Affects Almost All AMD Ryzen Handhelds & Laptops

The new Windows 11 KB5035853 update, which was rolled out almost a week ago, seems to have disrupted the experience for multiple users, especially those running an AMD Ryzen APU-powered handheld or laptop, since the update reportedly compromises the performance of the respective iGPU, causing massive performance bottlenecks.

While neither AMD nor Microsoft themselves have verified the issue yet, multiple users have come up to Reddit to express their frustrations towards the new update, and it seems like the handheld community is primarily impacted by it due to the massive presence of AMD's Ryzen APUs in the markets.

Users report that they are facing "terrible" gaming performance after the new KB5035853 update, with titles becoming unplayable due to unstable FPS. Moreover, in some instances, the GPU clock is limited to 800 MHz and doesn't go into its boost frequencies, which could be the reason behind the performance drop, but this isn't confirmed yet.

If you are currently facing the issue, there isn't an official fix devised for it; however, some users have seen improvements by going into the Windows settings and repairing the AMD driver package manually. Following is how Redditor, Ganley333, managed to fix his issues after the Windows update:

  2. Open Apps
  3. Go To AMD Software
  4. Choose “Repair”
  5. Choose “Reset”
