It's Not Just You, This Helldivers 2 Item Is Actually Bugged

has had a spectacular launch in some regards and a troubled one in others, and one persistent bug can be the source of some confusion. Suiting up for maximal defense against Terminids and Automatons might seem like a good strategy in, but it doesn't tend to take long to get the sense that something isn't quite right. Anyone finding themselves disoriented when it comes to armor in the game has good reason, as a key element hasn't yet been fixed.

The problem with armor was mentioned as a known issue in Patch 1.000.12 for , which has full notes available on Steam. Arrowhead Game Studios states that "," which is a nice way of saying that they really don't function at all. The defensive value of all armor remains the same across the spectrum, heavily incentivizing the use of light armor that provides increased mobility. Heavy armor can be appealing, but at the moment, there's no great justification for equipping it except as a purely aesthetic choice.

That isn't to say that there aren't any remaining advantages to heavy armor in the current state of , as armor passive abilities still work just fine. The best passives are spread out across all armor types, so if one is particularly appealing, it could be worth forgoing the mobility advantages that light armor would offer. From an objective standpoint, however, the balance will still favor light armor or possibly medium for some powerful perks, as the overall balance makes it hard to justify heavy armor thanks to movement penalties regardless of passives.

This is especially true for playing on higher difficulties, where maneuverability tends to become increasingly relevant. When getting harasssed by hordes of Terminids or Automatons, outrunning them is often the best strategy. Once heavy armor actually works properly, it could be an interesting change-up to the strategy of the game.
