iPhone 17 Pro Max To Feature A 19 Percent Bigger Tetraprism Camera Compared To Apple’s Upcoming Flagship Models, With All Sensors Said To Be 48MP Units

Apple is said to bring its tetraprism zoom lens to both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, but when talking about specifications, both flagships are said to feature a camera that will reportedly remain unchanged from the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, according to one analyst, that will not be the case with the iPhone 17 Pro Max launching in 2025, as not only will it sport a telephoto zoom camera upgrade, but its other sensors will also be improved, making it the only model from the technology giant to feature 48MP shooters at the rear side.

Image and video quality are expected to receive major improvements as Apple shifts to a 1/2.6-inch 48MP tetraprism camera for the iPhone 17 Pro Max

Where analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to feature a 1/3.1-inch 12MP unit for the periscope zoom camera, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will go beyond these limits, offering a 48MP shooter with a 1/2.6-inch sensor size, making the latter 19 percent bigger. In addition to receiving incredible imaging and video recording capabilities when enabling the tetraprism camera, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will also become Apple’s first flagship, whose rear sensors will support a maximum resolution of 48MP.

Kuo notes that Crystal-Optech, Apple’s primary supplier of prism lenses, will enjoy a massive profit stream as Apple increases the adoption of tetraprism cameras in its upcoming models. However, many investors worry that the Cupertino firm might try to cut corners and resort to using plastic prism lenses instead of glass ones. Kuo has laid those rumors to rest, stating that Apple will continue to incorporate glass prisms for the next few years. Sadly, the TF International Securities analyst cannot confirm at this time if the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be the only member from the 2025 lineup to feature a periscope zoom lens.
