Apple and Google are expected to receive Samsung’s advanced ‘M14’ panels that will be used in multiple flagships later this year. Based on the latest report, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the recipients of this technology, with the Pixel 9 series keeping pace with its rival flagship models, as it too is said to feature these cutting-edge displays.

Regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will likely stick with the older-generation ‘M12’ panels

Samsung is said to supply OLED panels for all four iPhone 16 models, but not every version will be treated equally. We already know that Apple will employ higher-quality LTPO screens for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, and according to The Elec, both flagships’ OLEDs will be based on the M14 technology. For those who do not know, the letter ‘M’ refers to a set of materials that Samsung uses in its OLED screens. As for the number’ 14,’ the higher the figure, the better quality those materials are, resulting in delivering the best panel performance in terms of overall brightness and lifespan.
