iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max Rumored To Support Fast Charging Up To 40W Using A Wired Connection To Top Up The Batteries Faster

Apple has maintained a slow pace when incorporating fast charging support on its devices, but with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max launch, the company is rumored to bridge the gap by introducing a maximum wattage of 40W through a wired connection. That is not all the improvements coming to the upcoming flagships because Apple is said to introduce an upgrade to MagSafe wireless charging too.

Aside from wired charging, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to support MagSafe wireless charging up to 20W

The iPhone 15 range can support up to 27W peak charging speeds with a compatible USB-C charger. Unfortunately, authorized MagSafe wireless chargers can only juice the batteries up to 15W. While this configuration is decent, all four iPhone 15 models will be required to remain plugged in or be placed on the MagSafe charging accessory for hours before the battery reaches 100 percent. Fortunately, ITHome reports that this will not be the case with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Likely using a compatible USB-C charger, we could see both flagships getting their batteries charged faster. The obvious reason for introducing higher charging support for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is that they are expected to feature bigger batteries than their current-generation predecessors. The top-end iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to be treated to a cell with a higher energy density, resulting in increased runtime, so the 40W wired charge support could be present to help reduce the top-up times without degrading the life cycle of the battery a little earlier.

It is unconfirmed if Apple intends to take advantage of the same ‘Glacier Technology’ that OnePlus employed on the Ace 3 Pro to increase energy density without compromising the thickness of the smartphone, but we will find
