Incredible Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mod Adds Paper Mario

A modder adds Paper Mario to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster, authentically recreating the character's 2D look and animations. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate modding community is incredibly active, with modders constantly creating and innovating with new fighters and gameplay overhauls to improve upon the game or expand its roster. While the cast of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate already features a number of recognizable Mario characters, one fan's version of Mario based on his appearances in the Paper Mario series is truly special.

The Paper Mario spin-offs are a series of RPGs that are beloved by many fans. While the series experienced a bit of a slump throughout the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U era, fans remained incredibly enthusiastic about the series. This mod was created by MilesFox10 on Twitter, where they showed off clips and screenshots of this mod. As the mod is currently a work-in-progress, some of the videos are early tests of the character in action. Some of the videos show off the jumping and ducking animations, as well as various victory poses based on the Paper Mario games.

Many fans have complimented Miles' efforts in making Paper Mario feel like a distinct fighter. As a replacement for Villager, Paper Mario shares a moveset with them, including special attacks, standard attacks, and more. This led some fans to volunteer their help with coding a completely new move set for this Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mod, likely taking inspiration from other Paper Mario games like the Nintendo 64
