If You're Hoarding This Helldivers 2 Item In Missions, You Should Really Stop It

Players in face repugnant Teminids and lethal Automatons, but the most dangerous enemy of all may come from within. Feared more than either enemy faction is the enigmatic player known as the «Sample hoarder.» These players can wreak havoc upon their compatriots through selfish and unnecessary behavior, more so than teammates who spam cluster bombs and orbital barrages on their comrades.

With the value that this loot brings for upgrading the Ship Modules, it is unsurprising that players have devised efficient ways to farm Samples. However, some helldivers have reported other players berating team members, refusing to participate, and even team-killing for picking up dropped Samples. These hoarders may not know that Samples are shared between the squad in .

Unlike Requisition and experience points, Samples are only rewarded upon successful extraction. The game tabulates the collected Samples of each surviving Helldiver and distributes the total number to every player. To maximize total resource gain at the end of the operation, players must ensure that their entire squad has survived, or at least be sure to pick up any samples dropped by lost comrades. By working together, Helldivers will receive more Samples to install game-changing upgrades to Ship Modules, and one person hoarding the Samples risks losing a significant sum for the whole team if they can't be recovered.

The margin for error in at the highest difficulties is exceedingly low and squabbles about Sample hoarding can impact mission success. Players should focus on supporting their squad instead of unnecessarily expressing rage when their comrades pick up items. A Helldiver's inventory is dropped when they die, but upon death, other teammates should grab the dropped Samples and run for safety if an area is untenable.

Hoarders might also be surprised to learn that other resources in the game are shared with teammates. In addition to Samples, team-wide resources include Super Credits, Medals, and Requisition.
