Every Helldivers 2 Major Order So Far, And What It Means For Future Updates

Players all across the known galaxy converge on certain planets under the name of spreading Managed Democracy in the game Through immersive and organic storytelling reminiscent of the enigmatic gamemaster known as Joel shapes the greater narrative of the game as players contend with hordes of bugs and bots. One way Arrowhead Game Studios directs story efforts is by issuing Major Orders. These missions direct the overall strategy and aims of the playerbase.

Major Orders in have varied from defending sectors against troublesome automatons to using Termicide against the sprawling bugs. These objectives are shared among the player base, and success will reward all participants with Medals, which are used to unlock new gear in the game's version of a battle pass. However, with a new Major Order being issued as often as every week, players might find it hard to track their history from the game's release until the present.

The mechanics behind Major Orders can be confusing at times. A large part of these objectives relies on liberating planets. Players contribute to the progress of these overarching missions through a statistic known as Squad Impact, which is gained from each completed mission. One point of Squad Impact will grant 0.001% Liberation. When the Liberation percent of a colony reaches 100, the planet will be taken for Super Earth. While this in itself may be simple, the Game Master might decide to hinder the efforts of players by tweaking the exact Liberation number.

From a story perspective, leaders from Super Earth issue directives to the frontlines to manage campaigns. The first campaign was dedicated to securing Super Earth's frontier against the Terminids, while the next two focused on attacking the Automatons. The composition of these orders also often alternates between defending planets or «liberating» them to spread democracy.
