Hunt: Showdown Finally Gets its PS5/XSX Update, Drops Last-Gen Console Support in August

When the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launched, it took some live service games a while to release official next-gen updates, with some games relying on backward compatibility for a while. Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown has held out longer than most, as the game is still technically only playable via backward compatibility on current-gen consoles, but that’s finally going to change this summer.

Between now and the big update in August, Crytek is promising a further look at Hunt: Showdown’s tech and performance improvements, UI redesign, progression and prestige systems changes, new anti-cheat initiatives, and more. It seems Crytek is essentially treating this update as a relaunch of the game.

Hunt: Showdown can be played on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, as well as Xbox Series X/S and PS5 via backward compatibility. The native Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of the game launch August 15, at which point Xbox
