Huawei’s Tri-Fold Smartphone With Large Rear Camera Bump And Three ‘Sandwiched’ Super-Thin Panels Spotted In The Hands Of Company Executive

Huawei’s former CEO of its consumer group, Richard Yu, was previously spotted with the rumored tri-fold smartphone when he was onboard a flight and was using the device completely unfolded. At that specific angle, it looked as if he was using a fully functional table. However, the same device was spotted in the executive’s hands again, completely closed, and we are thoroughly impressed with what Huawei’s engineers have been able to achieve. After all, if you take a gander at the images, the entire smartphone features a total of three razor-thin displays that are sandwiched on top of one another to complete the whole package.

Foldable smartphones have been Huawei’s forte for quite a while, but this is the first time that the company has gambled with launching a handset bearing three screens. Naturally, some talented designers and clever engineering are mandatory for the displays to be exceptionally thin, or else the smartphone’s thickness will go out of control. However, an earlier rumor claimed that the company ran into thermal and software optimization problems with the tri-fold smartphone, likely due to its unique form factor, leading to its delay.

If you look at the back of the smartphone, we can see that there is a prominent rear camera bump, indicating that Huawei may outfit its tri-fold smartphone with some capable sensors. The bump appears to be protruding outward excessively, possibly because there was little to no space inside the exterior shell. Our guess is that when the tri-fold smartphone is completely folded, it could be no thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but we can only give an official verdict when the device is officially here.
