Helldivers 2 leads strong month for European game sales in February

Helldivers 2 was February’s best-selling game in Europe following an impressive launch.

That’s according to GSD data published on GamesIndustry.biz, which covers physical game sales from major European markets and digital sales from most leading publishers, excluding Nintendo and 505 Games.

The data also doesn’t include Palworld, which has been a smash hit following its release in January. If it did, GI.biz suggests more games might have been sold last month than in February 2023, which included the blockbuster release of Hogwarts Legacy.

The PC version of Helldivers 2 accounted for 56% of the game’s sales last month, with the remainder coming on PS5.

While sales of most titles drop off following their launch week, the Sony-published shooter has bucked the trend, with sales in Europe growing in its second and third weeks of availability.

EA Sports FC 24 was at No.2 on February’s chart, ahead of the next highest new entry, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Skull and Bones also debuted at No.9, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League entered at No.12, Mario vs Donkey Kong came in at No.15, and Pacific Drive charted at No.18.

On the hardware front, PS5 continued to lead sales across European markets tracked by GSD, which exclude the UK and Germany.

Sales of the three main console platforms declined compared to last February, with PS5 down 2%, Switch down 17% and Xbox Series X/S down 47%.
