Helldivers 2 Fan Creates An Excellent Homage To Star Wars: Clone Wars

The worlds of and collide in an excellent fan animation that homages the iconic work of legendary animator Genndy Tartakovsky. Given that both and the Prequel Trilogy feature plenty of battles against killer robots, it makes sense that an artistic fan would combine the two franchises in some form or another. Yet this piece of animation that imagines what Tartakovsky's take on Super Earth's galactic war would look like is perhaps the best way of mashing the universes together.

Shared to X (formerly Twitter) by creator BNBaku2, the brief clip is a reference to «Chapter 23» wherein the Clone Trooper Captain Fordo holds off a wave of Super Battle Droids by himself.

In BNBaku2's version,Fordo is replaced by a Helldiver blasting away at a series of Automatons as the killer robots crest the hill behind which they're taking cover. The movements, choreography, and art style are clearly a reference to Tartakovsky's work; the creator clarified that they made all the assets from scratch in Blender and Goo-engine, including the weapons and Automatons.

While may appear to be a standard third-person multiplayer shooter, one of its most unique elements is the galactic war in which all players must participate. Narratively, all Helldivers are fighting to spread democracy and liberty in the universe in the name of Super Earth by battling the evil forces of Terminids and Automatons, sharing the collective goal of bringing freedom to every planet within reach. There's no PvP element as the community must work together to overcome the game's enemy forces which are controlled by Joel, Arrowhead Studios' Game Master who dictates the movements of the war.

While is still in the early stages of its lifespan, the game has already established a massive community of dedicated players, many of whom are doing their part to flesh out the universe.
