GTA 6 Finally Gets A Release Window & We’ll Be Waiting A While Longer

The release window for the highly anticipated has been narrowed down further, but may still come as a disappointment to some fans. In December 2023, Rockstar Games provided a first look at the upcoming title in a record-breaking cinematic trailer that confirmed the return to Vice City and the surrounding areas in Leonida and introduced its protagonists, Lucia and Jason, although the latter was never named in the footage. The trailer ended with a vague 2025 release window, and fans have been speculating exactly when in the year the game could be released ever since.

As reported by Variety, Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, confirmed that will be released in Fall 2025 in an interview ahead of its quarterly earnings call for the full fiscal year 2024. Zelnick wouldn't narrow this down further, however, saying “”, likely referring to a new trailer with more reveals.

The Miami-lookalike, Vice City, is poised to receive one of the biggest and most beautiful upgrades in gaming history in Grand Theft Auto 6.

While it's good to have a more narrow Fall 2025 release window confirmed for, this will likely disappoint those who had theorized the game would be released earlier in the year. In February, Rockstar reportedly asked all employees to return to the office five days a week, starting in April, citing "" as the main reason behind this decision as the game development enters its "", something that should hardly come as a surprise considering the number of leaks Rockstar has faced surrounding earlier builds of the game, and even its reveal trailer. Considering the phrasing used indicated that the game is nearer to completion, many did believe it could come in the first quarter or half of 2025.

Countering this, previous fiscal year calculations for Take-Two did actually indicate that players wouldn't see the game until after April 2025, with its revenue forecast for the 2025 fiscal year falling from $8 billion to $7 billion, hinting at some sort of internal delay
