Freedom Wars Remastered coming to PC, Switch and PlayStation in January

Freedom Wars Remastered is coming to PC and consoles in January, Bandai Namco has announced.

The PlayStation Vita cult hit is being remastered and will be released on January 10 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The remastered version of the game will include 4K resolution, upgraded textures, and 60 FPS on PC and PlayStation systems, according to a press release.

The game’s weapon crafting system has also been overhauled, and a new difficulty setting has been added.

“In the distant future, humanity is in a struggle to survive. Pollution has devastated the planet, and the remnants of humanity are divided amongst city-sized prisons called Panopticons,” the game’s official description reads.

“So scarce are resources that living itself is a crime and those born are immediately given a million years of prison time.

“Dubbed ‘Sinners’, the only option other than awaiting death in prison is to fight for freedom with allies for resources, to rescue citizens from abduction by rival enemies, or take up arms against other enemy Sinners.”

Freedom Wars was originally developed by Dimps and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. While a niche hit in the West, the game was far more popular in Japan, achieving the second-highest opening sales for any PlayStation Vita title in the history of the handheld.
