Final Fantasy VII Remake New PC Update Breaks Fundamental Mod

Final Fantasy VII Remake was updated today on PC and PlayStation 5, introducing a small change but breaking a fundamental mod.

The new update, which is around 5 GB big, introduces some small changes to some movie files, changing Tifa's outfit in flashback sequences so that it matches the same outfit featured in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's first chapter. Unfortunately, the new Final Fantasy VII Remake update also breaks compatibility with the FFVIIHook mod, an extremely important mod that gives access to console commands and allows easy changes to the game's CVARs and loading INI files from the games config folder. What makes this mod so important is that it allows users to use mods that address some of the game's most glaring issues, such as stuttering issues, that were not officially fixed. As the new update adds nothing of relevance to the game, we advise not updating it to continue using FFVIIHook until it is updated to work with the new game's version.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is now available on PC and PlayStation consoles. You can learn more about the Intergrade release, featuring an additional DLC campaign starring Yuffie, by checking out my review.
