Final Fantasy 14 and 16 team says it ‘could announce two new games soon’

The Square Enix division behind Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16 is working on two unannounced projects.

During a recent interview with Dutch site Gamer.nl, Creative Studio 3 boss Naoki Yoshida said the division hadn’t been impacted by recent restructuring at Square Enix.

“I haven’t had to fire people and the current team hasn’t been altered. We’re even hiring new folks,” he said, according to a translation of his comments by one of the journalists who works at the site.

“The company has high expectations for our division.” Yoshida continued. “It’s one of the pillars of Square Enix. There is no chance they’ll make cuts or invest less in us. We’ll keep working just as hard on (Final Fantasy 14), so players don’t have to worry.”

He also said that, given how the team is structured, it can’t work on a lot of games simultaneously, although it has some unannounced titles in development.

“Soon there may be some announcements about two new games that we are working on,” he teased, as translated by X user Genki_JPN.

Final Fantasy 14’s fifth expansion, Dawntrail, will bring the game up to version 7.0 when it launches on July 2.

It will introduce the continent of Tural, two brand new jobs (Viper and Pictomancer), a new playable race (female Hrothgar) and a major graphical upgrade, among other features.
