FF7 Rebirth Sales Are Lower Than Those of Final Fantasy XVI in the Same Time Period

FF7 Rebirth sales in the US on PlayStation 5 are lower than those of Final Fantasy XVI in the same time period.

That's what Circana analyst Mat Piscatella told GameFile's Stephen Totilo. Interestingly, although the second part in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is currently the fourth best-selling title in the US this year, Rebirth currently only ranks 14th in lifetime sales for all Final Fantasy games in the US. Of course, it should be noted that Rebirth has only been on sale for two months whereas other Final Fantasy installments have been on sale for much longer periods. As such, Rebirth will likely end up higher on the list as time passes.

Still, it's worthwhile that US sales for Rebirth are "down by a double-digit percentage when compared to Remake over the same period". Also, Totilo writes that when comparing its sales to those of last year's Final Fantasy XVI (also a PS5 exclusive), sales are down a double-digit percentage.

Some weeks ago we already reported that Rebirth's sales were said to be lower than expected, allegedly selling half of 2020's Final Fantasy VII Remake. Although Final Fantasy VII Rebirth appears to be underperforming sales-wise, we wrote highly of the second entry in the trilogy, rating it with a solid 10. Here's what we wrote about the title:
