Microsoft is cutting another 650 jobs in its gaming division, Stephen Totilo reported in today's Game File newsletter. The article includes a quote from an internal email sent this morning to employees by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer:
It was revealed that Tango Gameworks would be enjoying a happier ending last month, when the news broke that Krafton—publisher of PUBG—would be taking the studio in, saving as many developers as possible from its shock closure.

The impacted developers have already expressed their frustration, anger, and disappointment on social media, especially in the wake of claims that CEO Pete Parsons spent$2.4 million on vintage vehicles over the past 2 years.
Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy, two Bungie veterans known for their work on the Destiny series, are reportedly no longer working at the company, following the cancellation of the Payback project.

Nintendo has its fair share of franchises that have fallen by the wayside over the years, but when it comes to power players like games, the company can be surprisingly consistent about keeping up traditions. From the obvious heavy hitters like to a number of RPGs and sports-themed spin-offs, the odds are that any reasonably successful game starring the intrepid plumber will get its fair share of sequels. One of his most interesting roles might be coming to an end, however, and it's ultiamtely not that much of a surprise.
