Fallout Fans Can Now Make Their Own Custom Xbox Controller

fans who want to take their love of The Wasteland to the next level can now order and design their own customizable Xbox controller. Following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda in 2020, the developer's brands have become almost synonymous with the Xbox console and is no exception as the games' retro sci-fi aesthetic makes for a theme that's unique and aesthetically appealing. Such is the case with a new range of controllers that allow users to create a color scheme and pattern that evokes their favorite in-game faction.

Unveiled by Xbox Design Lab, Microsoft's official service for creating customized controllers, the new range of components is designed to evoke with a shell that features various black-and-white depictions of Vault Boy (all pulled from the games) as well as a color version that sees the mascot using an Xbox controller.

Players are able to swap out the D-Pad, triggers, bumpers, and analog sticks with different colors to create something that resembles the motif of the Brotherhood of Steel, Vault-Tec, or even the terrifying Super Mutants. Users can check out the Xbox Design Lab website to tinker with the different colors and create something all their own.

Given its unique components, consumers will need to spend quite a hefty amount if they want their own -themed Xbox controller. The devices start at $84.98 which is, admittedly, quite steep for a controller even if the Xbox Design Lab versions come with metal triggers and D-Pad. Considering that an average Xbox Series X|S controller will set users back by approximately $72, it's up to the die-hard fans to decide whether the fancy colors are worth the extra $10.

While the franchise has made a name for itself as one of the most beloved RPG series in the industry, it's been relatively dormant in recent years. The most recent entry in the series was , an open-world MMO that was panned by both fans and critics when it launched in 2018 but has managed to improve significantly through post-launch updates.
