Evidence of Possible Resident Evil 5 Remake Surfaces

Amid a continuously popular period for the series, it appears that Capcom may be preparing for a possible Resident Evil 5 Remake announcement. While Resident Evil has been beloved for many years, the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake prompted more excitement among fans than ever about what might be in store for the franchise. Now, some of the publisher's latest updates may have offered a glimpse into Capcom's plans.

The horror genre has seen a notable resurgence in gaming over the past couple of years, particularly with the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake. The title sold 6.48 million units as of December 31, 2023, becoming the fastest-selling game in the series. The record was previously held by Resident Evil 2 Remake, which sold 5.8 million units during a similar period. Amid this success, Capcom is seemingly looking to keep the franchise alive with similar remakes.

The updates have seemingly removed the Resident Evil 5 name, release data, and the base game from the package. While Capcom has yet to comment on the remake officially, the fact that the game's page on the Steam database received an update for the first time in three years hints at a possible announcement ahead. Some fans are already speculating that the publisher might be eyeing a 2026 release, as it would allign with the franchise's 30th anniversary.

Of course, the likelihood of Resident Evil 5 Remake is all but confirmed. Capcom has already laid the groundwork for a follow-up in Resident Evil 4 Remake and its Separate Ways DLC. However, it's worth noting that Resident Evil 5 Remake isn't the only rumored project in the series. A recent leak suggests that Capcom reportedly has five Resident Evil games in development, with Resident Evil 9 likely being one of them. It's unclear what the other projects
