Elden Ring: Should You Give Rogier The Black Knifeprint?

is filled to the brim with nefarious creatures and feral monsters that want the Tarnished dead, yet there are a few NPCs that one could consider an ally. Rogier is one such character, a Glintstone Sorcerer, who is first met on the way to Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle. Should a player choose to interact with Rogier, they will learn that he is on a quest of his own, and the sorcerer will ask the Tarnished to retrieve The Black Knifeprint for him.

The Black Knifeprint is found in the Black Knife Catacombs, and its item description reads, It is tied to the death of Godwin the Golden, whose assassination sparked the Shattering, leading to the events players see in It is vital to the game's lore and even more vital to its characters.

The Black Knifeprint is not the easiest item to get. The Tarnished must complete the Black Knife Catacombs dungeon, located in the north-east section of the Liurnia of the Lakes, and is guarded by a Mausoleum Knight. Although the majority of the dungeon poses little challenge by 'sstandards, the boss who drops the Knifeprint is no push over. They are a Black Knife Assassin, and the speed of their attacks makes fighting in the confined boss room difficult for newer players.

If struggling to beat the Black Knife Assassin, consider calling for help. If interacted with before, D, Hunter of the Dead, can be summoned to aid in the fight, making it much easier.

Although Rogier, who is destined to die at this point in the story, seems like he will do very little with the Knifeprint, it is vital to completing Fia's questline and unlocking one of the game's endings. It also reveals a great deal about 's deep lore, such as Lunar Princess Ranni being the one to orchestrate the Night of the Black Knives plot. Without giving Rogier this item, a great deal of content is missed, and some NPCs will never have their questline finished.
