Elden Ring Shadow Of Erdtree Fans Spot Dark Souls 2 Easter Egg In The Trailer

Fans have discovered a throwback to Dark Souls 2 inElden Ring's Shadow of Erdtree DLC trailer which many might have missed. From new enemies to a brand new map, the new expansion trailer promises a lot to Elden Ring fans, but amid that, some are more excited about a much-requested feature making its return to the Soulsborne genre.

Dark Souls 2 is by far one of the most, if not the most polarizing game in gaming history. While some really appreciate its revamped take on the Soulsborne genre, others aren't quite receptive to its departure from the core premise of its predecessor. However, when it comes to the DLC, the case was totally different, as it was widely acclaimed by the community. Despite the conflicting opinions, there were several mechanics in Dark Souls 2 that players wanted in subsequent titles. It seems like that is going to turn into reality pretty soon.

Right around the 1:55 timeframe, Elden Ring's Shadow of Erdtree DLC trailer showcases an entirely new mechanic — proper hand-to-hand combat. While there are several fist weapons in Elden Ring such as the Star Fist and Caestus, they couldn't really come close to what Dark Souls 2's Bone Fist could pull off. However, in the trailer, players have spotted a dropkick animation, which will most likely be in the form of an Ashes of War.

The dropkick has been one of the most popular attacks in Dark Souls 2, which can be performed using the Bone Fist in the Crown of the Ivory King DLC. While players were eagerly expecting its comeback in Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, their dreams of turning the Souls arenas into martial arts clubs never came into reality again.
