Elden Ring 1.12 Patch Brings Significant Ray Tracing Performance Improvements on PC

Today's Elden Ring patch brings some significant ray tracing performance improvements on PC, a new comparison video highlights.

The comparison video put together by MxBenchmarkPC puts the game's previous and current versions of the game running side by side running on an RTX 4080 GPU at 4K resolution, maximum settings and ray tracing, confirming how the new patch brought significant performance improvements with ray tracing. In scenarios where the game struggled to hit 60 frames per second, it now hits them easily, making playing the game with ray tracing a viable option on powerful systems.

Besides these ray tracing performance improvements, the Elden Ring 1.12 patch introduces new features and balance tweaks, such as new Inventory and Map features, PvP and PvE balance changes, and more. You can find the full patch notes here.

Elden Ring is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. You can learn more about the excellent Shadow of the Erdtree expansion by checking out my review.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expands the base game by offering more of what made it one of the best open-world games ever. It features a well-sized map dense with secrets to discover, new masterfully designed dungeons, and introduces new, fun tools to help the Tarnished tackle some of the most challenging enemies in the game's dark and brutal world. While the lack of new gameplay mechanics may disappoint some, don't let this deter you. Shadow of the Erdtree is every bit as good as the base game, and it is an essential purchase for all those who loved FromSoftware's amazing action role-playing game.
