Dragon's Dogma 2 players are frustrated about the Dragonsplague feature, which can effectively break an entire playthrough if its warning signs are ignored. While the community has been signing praises over the gameplay in Dragon's Dogma 2, it also hasn't shied away from critiquing Capcom over its microtransaction practices. Furthermore, it has submitted feedback on some of the game's major shortcomings, such as its poor technical performance in cities like Vernworth, as well as the inability to restart Dragon's Dogma 2 as a new character.

However, there is one feature that seems to have agitated Dragon's Dogma 2 players like no other. Whereas save games can be managed with the help of an external tool, and there are ways to increase the FPS in Dragon's Dogma 2, players are forced to engage with the Dragonsplague over the course of their playthrough, and the consequences of ignoring it can be severe.

Much like dragons being able to turn Pawns against the player in the original game, the same holds true for Dragon's Dogma 2. However, whereas the condition is only temporary in the first Dragon's Dogma title, the sequel has Pawns developing an illness that, if left untreated, causes them to go on a murderous rampage while resting at the inn. A lot of players, such as Any_Measurement1169, have complained that the Dragonsplague feature is too punishing, and that it detracts from an otherwise enjoyable open world experience in Dragon's Dogma 2.

The best way to avoid contracting the Dragonsplague is to defeat a dragonkin without a Pawn ending up in its stun lock, as any encounter with the beasts has a chance to infect a Pawn with the disease. Both the Main Pawn and the Pawn of other players can be infected, and these infected Pawns can then be unknowingly hired through the Rift in Dragon's Dogma 2.
