Don’t Be Fooled, Elden Ring DLC’s Toughest Boss Likely Won’t Be Messmer

Despite their apparent importance to the story being told in ’s DLC, Messmer is most likely not the toughest boss in the additional content – in fact, he may not even be the final encounter. Known as Messmer the Impaler, the opponent is being heavily featured as the big antagonist in the DLC. Messmer is featured in the key art for the expansion and is even being portrayed in a statue that comes in the Collector’s Edition bundle with the release of . Messmer is known to be a tyrant.

Messmer’s Flame is said to have corrupted the Land of Shadow, the setting for the DLC. The opponent, who is rumored to have some type of connection to the demigods and perhaps even Radagon himself, is a master of fire and wields a spear in battle. Messmer is also known to be accompanied by at least one snake, which can be seen in several promotional materials. Even though the presence of Messmer in the DLC is undeniably important for the overall story, he may not be the toughest boss fight in the highly anticipated extra soulslike content.

With Shadow of the Erdtree set to arrive in June, players should be looking to start playing again now, instead of when the DLC releases.

From what has been shown so far, Messmer is most likely going to be a formidable opponent.
