Dave the Diver Developer Mintrocket Announces New Sci-Fi MOBA, Wakerunners

Mintrocket, the studio behind Dave the Diver, has announced its newest project, a sci-fi MOBA called Wakerunners.

Quietly revealed as ‘Project TB’ last year, Wakerunners is a top-down 4v4 and 5v5 PvP game featuring characters spread across a number of factions and set within a post-apocalpytic earth. The game offers frenetic action combat with the ability to swap between different characters over the course of a match.

While Mintrocket is developing the game, it’s being made by a different internal team than the one that shipped Dave the Diver, which sold over three million copies, and  was also one of 2023’s most acclaimed games.

Mintrocket is owned by the gargantuan South Korean publisher, Nexon, and Wakerunners is the second newly announced project from the studio. Last year, Mintrocket also announced Nakwon: Last Paradise, a PvPvE zombie stealth survival title.

A Wakerunners demo will be available during Steam’s Next Fest, which runs between February 5 and 12. The demo will feature five game modes and seven playable characters. Demo modes include Team Deathmatch, Control Conquest, Command Siege, and Escort.

No official release date has been set nor have any additional platforms (besides PC) been announced.
