Helldivers 2 Gets Important New Update

Helldivers 2 has released an update that aims to fix the many issues plaguing PC players at launch. Helldivers 2 has also informed PlayStation 5 fans on when they can expect their own patch.

The anticipated Helldivers sequel launched on February 8. However, Helldivers 2 launched with significant bugs that affected matchmaking, logins, and stability. Arrowhead Game Studios explained that Helldivers 2's large influx of players at launch introduced new issues that went undetected during testing, an unfortunately common occurrence with new releases. But Arrowhead also made clear that it planned to implement patches in the near future, and the first one has been released.

Arrowhead's Twitter account posted a message stating that a patch was applied to the Steam version of Helldivers 2 on February 8, which should improve some of the issues affecting users, most notably matchmaking problems. Arrowhead also admitted that it has more to improve on until Helldivers 2 reaches a solid state. In a separate post made to Arrowhead's Zendesk page, the studio explained that the new patch took PC users' quickplay success rate from 5-10% all the way up to 75-80%. It further explained that a similar fix for PlayStation is coming out today on February 9. Although matchmaking seems to have been improved, many PC users still report crashing issues, so fans will likely need to wait for another patch, or a couple, before Helldivers 2 is in a stable state for all users.

Despite these issues, Helldivers 2 has a Mostly Positive Steam rating of 70% and is the global top-selling game on the platform, showcasing the franchise's enjoyable gameplay. Currently, Helldivers 2's sales sit above Steam titans such as Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. The post-launch patch has helped to improve the community's reaction from launch day, when Helldivers 2 sat at a Mixed rating of 53% at one point.

Arrowhead seems to intend for Helldivers 2 to have a long life span, as it previously confirmed that it views Helldivers
