Cyberpunk 2077 Official AMD FSR 3 Implementation Brings Performance Improvements, but With Bad Visual Quality, New Comparisons Highlights

Cyberpunk 2077 now supports AMD FSR 3.0 officially, which brings performance improvements with frame generation but still leaves a lot to be desired in terms of image quality.

New comparison videos based on the game's latest version shared online highlight how implementing an outdated version of AMD's upscaler wasn't the best of choices, as visual quality is outright bad on multiple system configurations and at different resolutions, essentially negating the performance improvements brought by frame generation, which cannot be used with any other upscaler in the game.

Besides introducing AMD FSR 3.0 support, the new Cyberpunk 2077 2.13 patch, which was only released for PC, also brings Intel XeSS 1.3 support, enables the usage of both DLAA and DLSS Ray Reconstruction at the same time, and introduces some other unspecified stability and visual fixes. Hopefully, this won't be the last patch CDPR puts out for the game, as introducing support for the much better AMD FSR 3.1 would be rather welcome.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One. The Phantom Liberty expansion, released last year, is only available on PC and current generation consoles. You can learn more about it and the big 3.0 patch which introduces important gameplay and progression changes in Alessio's review.
