While depicts a slicker vision of the future, 's Night City is far more grim and gritty, filled with flashy graffiti and over-the-top characters.

Adam Jensen, the star of and, proved to be an especially popular character amongst players, many of whom expressed sympathy for his confusion regarding his purpose in a world where he was a weapon employed by a corporation.
