Concord won’t have a battle pass, free post-launch content teased

Firewalk Studios has confirmed that Sony’s upcoming live service game Concord won’t have a battle pass.

In an info dump designed to answer some of players’ most common questions during the game’s recently concluded beta, its developer also discussed progression, maps, modes, and plans for post-launch support.

“Concord does not have a Battle Pass,” the studio confirmed. “We wanted to focus our attention on making Concord a rewarding and robust experience on day one, where just playing the game, levelling up your accounts and characters, and completing jobs yields meaningful rewards.”

It also said that the progression rewards available in the beta were just a small selection of the unlockable items that will be included in the $40 / £35 game when it’s released for PS5 and PC on August 23.

“When Concord launches, we’ll have hundreds of items to customize your Freegunners, which you can earn just by playing the game, completing jobs, and leveling up your account and characters,” Firewalk said.

“Launch is just the beginning,” Firewalk added. “We will be introducing new Freegunners, maps, modes, and more through regular post-launch seasons and updates available to all players at no additional cost. We’ll be diving deeper into our post-launch roadmap very soon – stay tuned!”

The 5v5 hero shooter “won’t have solo-specific modes at launch, but our lineup will grow over time through regular content updates”.

There will also be single-player training modes at launch, and Firewalk said it’s exploring different ways of incentivising players not to leave matches mid-game,
