Can You Play Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Operations Mode Solo?

is seemingly designed with co-op at the forefront, especially in its Operations game mode. When a mission is selected, the game automatically starts looking for two more players to fill in the squad, and each person must use a different Space Marine class. Even the main campaign is fully playable in co-op, with friends taking control of brothers Gadriel and Chairon. Even in Operations, though, sometimes it's nice to cut through the Xenos hordes playing solo, without worrying about coordinating with others.

At launch, Operations effectively makes up half of the game's story, covering six of the 12 total missions in , and showing the exploits of squads supporting the main trio. More Operations missions are on the way, according to 's roadmap, but there's already plenty of progress to be made in the mode. The six classes each have their own perk tree associated with Operations, and each mission has four difficulties to climb through. It's clearly a game mode designed with pre-made squads in mind, but that won't stop an enterprising Ultramarine from playing Operations solo.

It is technically possible to play 's Operations game mode solo, but it requires a bit of a workaround. There is no option to start an Operations mission alone – the game always searches for teammates – so playing Operations solo requires disconnecting from the internet. This is most easily done from a hardware level, such as going into a console's system settings and forgetting a wi-fi network, but this is more of a hassle than most players will probably like.

Another option is attempting to get the game client to disconnect from its servers. For instance, players on PS5 can launch the game and load into the battle barge, thus connecting to the servers, then put their console into rest mode. When the PS5 is turned back on, will ask if players want to return to the main menu and connect to the servers, or continue offline.
