Call of Duty Update Disables Controversial Attachment

A new Call of Duty: Warzone playlist update disabled the controversial Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment for the Lockwood 300 shotgun. The update brought relief to many Call of Duty: Warzone players on social media, since the attachment was capable of giving other players an unfair advantage.

Season 1 Reloaded of Warzone is underway with a new Gulag Public Event, Champion's Quest, two new weapons, and so much more. Although the Reloaded update added a slew of new content, the update's launch on January 17 was mired with technical issues and bugs in Warzone. The Call of Duty developers quickly worked to remedy the problems affecting both games and offered compensation in the form of double XP tokens for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. Some issues still lingered for some time after the Reloaded update was released, including the troublesome Lockwood 300's overpowered Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment in Warzone.

A new tweet from the official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account confirms a minor Warzone playlist update is live with the sole purpose of disabling the Lockwood 300 shotgun's Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment. This attachment allowed the fan-favorite Modern Warfare 2 shotgun to deal more damage than originally intended, with some players noting that it's capable of making Lockwood 300 rounds pierce through armor plates for one-shot kills. Players may still equip the attachment on the shotgun, but it will perform like the default trigger attachment for the time being. The Call of Duty development team did not give an estimate for when a hotfix would arrive, but Warzone players on Twitter are satisfied with the attachment being disabled for the foreseeable future.

This is not the first time that the Maelstrom Dual Trigger attachment has been disabled in Warzone due to its overpowering damage potential, however.
